The Guiding Light at the End of the Tunnel
A trance-formation I didn't expect.
Filled with frustration and rage, I tore a piece of paper from my notepad.
I swept everything on the table aside, slammed the paper on the table and sat down.
Grabbing a pencil from the stationery holder, I gripped it while staring hard at the empty piece of paper.
Nothing.
My mind was blank.
I couldn't think of anything, but I was certain I needed to do something.
I was tired of living groundhog day every single day -
a perpetual loop of stagnation.
Back then, social media wasn't as ubiquitous, and I felt the pain of the lack of progress.
I sighed, clenched my teeth, and let out a repressed roar.
It was futile.
I slouched back on the backrest of the chair and dazed at the wall.
I began to take deep breaths while my eyes refused to close.
Each breath became deeper and deeper - to the point I felt like my consciousness slowly fading.
My mind went blank.
But this time, it was different.
In a swift jolt, my upper body leapt forward and my hands got into place.
A sudden flood of information came into my mind like a gushing waterfall into a whirlpool to my mind.
'My current goals'
"Don't you worry, boy. Take one step at a time."
I remained silent, and my right arm became autonomous.
Read "The Definitive Book of Body Language"
Start taking down notes in class
Start working out
As I have had an inquisitive spirit from a young age, I began questioning.
"Why?"
It will help you understand people better. You will be able to communicate better and be that popular guy you've always wanted to be.
You'll cut down on study time since most of your work is already done in school - killing two birds with one stone.
You'll have a boost in confidence and look more attractive to your crush.
I placed my pencil down.
I held the paper and gazed at it.
For the next few months, I did what I'd written down.
Progress in Emotional Intelligence(EQ)
On my holiday trip to Taiwan, I read the book within 5 days, and my perspective changed.
I began to see people in a different light.
I could see the intentions of others and what they were thinking as I was talking to them.
The more I observed others, the more I was able to read them like a book.
Progress in Academics
I had files of notes by the end of the year, and acing tests were a common achievement.
I had more time to hang out with my friends and this had formed close friendships over the years.
Progress in Confidence
Every day, I would jog for an hour, and I would do bodyweight workouts.
I could see my body improving, and girls would often point out my broad shoulders and chest.
It was a big confidence boost to the point that I felt that I could talk to anyone.
Lo and behold,
I used the knowledge to become a socialite within the next few months.
My peers noticed that I was changing, but they couldn't pinpoint it.
The changes were subtle, and it happened over time.
By the following year, I became the popular guy at school -
the aim I had before I slammed that paper on the table.
All because I took the first step to write down my goals.
It gave me Clarity.
Direction.
A sense of purpose to guide me Forward.
Waypoint tip:
A big part of self-discovery is knowing your direction.
Thinking too far into the future can be intimidating to most, so it's best to start small.
"What small goals do you want to achieve now?"
Write down 3 goals you want to accomplish.
Keep it simple and actionable.
It was not all sunshine and rainbows.
I had my inner demons consistently having me in a chokehold.
I'll share with you more in the next waypoint.
Until then, Pathfinder.
Love and Light,
Jason Nile
